How salary conversion works

The calculator first converts the amount you enter to an annual equivalent. It then divides that annual amount into monthly, weekly and hourly rates using the hours-per-week and weeks-per-year assumptions you choose.

Gross pay onlyA salary conversion is not the same as take-home pay. Income tax, payroll deductions and location-specific rules are deliberately excluded.

Hourly and annual assumptions

Hourly conversions depend on working hours. If you work 40 hours per week for 52 weeks, the annualized total is based on 2,080 hours. Change either assumption when your schedule differs.

Common questions

Does this calculate take-home pay?

No. It converts gross pay only and does not apply tax or payroll rules.

How is biweekly pay calculated?

The annualized amount is converted to a weekly equivalent using your weeks-per-year assumption, then multiplied by two.

Can I start with an hourly rate?

Yes. Choose “hour” and the calculator annualizes the rate using the hours per week and weeks per year you enter.
